LOCKS OF LOVE
Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.
PARTICIPATING SALONS
Locks of Love is grateful for the thousands of salons who show support everyday by providing free blunt haircuts for anyone who donates 10″or more to Locks of Love. Not only do these salons play a vital role in assisting with hair donations, but they also spread awareness about Locks of Love’s mission, helping us find more children in need of our services.
Fantastic Sams®, the largest full-service hair care franchise with a network of more than 1400 salons worldwide, has created the Fantastic Friends Foundation, a national charitable organization with an on-going passion for giving back to the community. Fantastic Friends has successfully launched several key fundraising efforts to support initiatives ranging from a national Cut-a-Thon and the creation of a Fantastic Friends inspirational bracelet to a Cartridge Recycling Program, and in 2006, the Locks of Love Candy Sale.
