Why not attend one of Williams-Sonoma’s popular free cooking technique classes to learn the art and science of cooking from their own culinary experts in June 2011. (Click at bottom for more info) The next free cooking class offered is celebrating American BBQ “Carolina style” on June 5 (click at bottom for more information) — just in time for the summer time ritual! The specific times may vary from place to place, and you’ll need to RSVP. Sundays are their cooking technique class days. Each class is dedicated to a specific culinary topic, from the best way to work with specific ingredients, cookware and tools to creative ideas for seasonal meals.

We’ll journey through the Carolinas, where pork is king, and savor classics like pulled pork and banana pudding. In the first class of our series, you’ll learn all about wet rubs and how to slow cook meats on the barbecue in the true Carolina style.

Our travels continue to Memphis, Tennessee, a region renowned for its barbecued ribs. In the second class of our series, we’ll discuss dry rubs and show you how to turn out tender ribs and infuse foods with enticing smoky flavor. Then we’ll round out the menu with some delicious regional sides.

Our final class in the series showcases Kansas City and Texas—both famous for their beef brisket. Learn how to combine wet and dry rubs as it’s done in Kansas City, and how to produce succulent, juicy meat in the Texas style. We’ll also discuss popular ways to serve barbecued brisket.
