Are you looking for some free health clinics in San Francisco or Oakland? – Then make your way to the four-day free health clinic at the Oakland Coliseum this weekend, April 9-12. This will be the first Bay Area event organized by Remote Area Medical, a Tennessee-based nonprofit primarly known for providing free medical services overseas and in rural and other underserved areas of the United States. The group made its first Northern California appearance last weekend at Sacramento’s Cal Expo, where it provided care to more than 3,600 people at a four-day event. Patients are advised to arrive at the Oakland Coliseum by midnight the night before they would like to be seen in order to be assured a ticket. Volunteers will start handing out tickets at 3:30 a.m. Patients are seen on a firt-come, first-served basis starting at 5:30 a.m. Only one ticket will be issued per person in line. Remote Area Medical’s founder, Stan Brock, said the group hopes to take care of about 1,000 patients a day.
