Would you like to take a free cooking class at Williams Sonoma? Well come on out on a Sunday in August 2010 for one of Williams-Sonoma’s free in-store cooking & technique classes. The specific times may vary from place to place, and you’ll need to RSVP. The hour-long culinary arts technique classes will take place on August 8, 15, 22, and 28 . August has a good variety of classes — August 8 is “Cooking Sous Vide,” August 15 is “The Art of Seasoning,” August 22 is “Lessons in Dairy,” and August 29 is “Knife Skills & Knife Sharpening”
The first class is “Cooking Sous Vide” and is offered on Sunday August 8 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. In this class, you will discover the secrets to sous vide, one of the hottest culinary trends today. With this classic technique, foods are cooked in a protected vacuum with precise temperature controls, producing tender, succulent foods without overheating or overcooking them. This preserves the ingredients’ nutritional value and true flavor. Popular with chefs around the world, sous vide is easy to do at home. This class will introduce you to the basics, including the essential equipment you’ll need.
Class size is limited, so reservations are highly recommended. There are a number of stores in the Chicagoland area, including Chicago, Old Orchard, Oak Brook, Orland Park and Highland Park, among others.
